22 October 2019: OECD netFWD and UNESCO GEM Report discussion on the role of philanthropy for education in developing countries
The OECD Global Network of Foundations Working for Development (netFWD) in collaboration with the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report at UNESCO invite you to join a discussion examining the role of philanthropy for education in developing countries.
Building upon netFWD’s new publication on Education and Philanthropy Quality Education for All: Lessons and Future Priorities, the discussion will unpack unprecedented OECD data on private philanthropic giving in support to education in developing countries, and explore challenges and opportunities for foundations to enhance education systems. A panel will bring together representatives from foundations, UNESCO, the GEM Report, OECD, and governments to reflect on the role of philanthropy and other non-state actors in strengthening education systems in developing countries to achieve SDG 4.
The discussion will also inform the development of the concept note for the 2021 GEM Report on non-state actors in education. The 2021 GEM Report will examine the scale of the phenomenon and emerging trends, as well as the evidence on the implications of non-state involvement in education, including philanthropic organizations.
Date: Tuesday October 22nd, 2019
Time: 9-12 PM
Location: Salle IX, UNESCO Headquarters, Paris
