NORRAG Advisor publishes article in International Journal of Educational Development

Lara Patil, NORRAG Advisor, recently published an article in the International Journal of Educational Development  titled, “Disaster philanthropy: Exploring the power and influence of for-profit philanthropy in education development during pandemic times.”

Patil’s article describes the phenomenon of for-profit philanthropy during the COVID-19 pandemic. This “disaster philanthropy” creates a window of opportunity for elites to enact changes in public education based on their distinct donor and institutional agendas. Patil draws attention to four under-examined aspects of “disaster philanthropy” and discusses the implications for educational development (such as shifts in power, definitions, and public vs. private returns).
