Spotlight on Literacy: INVITATION: Online film festival and Zoom discussion on September 8 International Literacy Day
You are invited to view three short films by Catherine Murphy. They will be available online throughout the month of September at https://cinematiced.org/. See them from anywhere in the world, at any convenient time. There are no set screenings. Access is free. The films include two documentaries on the Cuban Literacy Campaign
Maestra is a 33-minute documentary film directed by about the youngest women teachers of the 1961 Cuban Literacy Campaign. In Murphy’s 34-minute documentary, Silvio Rodriguez: Mi primera tarea, Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodriguez shares his first person account of joining the youth brigades during the 1961 Cuban Literacy Campaign.
The last film is a preview clip of Murphy’s upcoming film on Paulo Freire.
