The Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research was established in 2009 to aid in the social, cultural, and economic development of Ras Al Khaimah, a northern emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Established through Emiri decree, the Foundation is considered a non-profit, quasi-governmental organization and is the visionary initiative of Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

About the partnership

NORRAG and the Al Qasimi Foundation have partnered on a joint project of knowledge production and dissemination around the topic of innovative funding for education and specifically the role of Philanthropy in Education. The first project of this collaboration is the symposium series Philanthropy in Education: Global Trends, Regional Differences and Diverse Perspectives.

In addition to the inaugural and closing symposia, the Foundation and NORRAG will collaborate to produce an edited volume on present global trends in philanthropy in education and will lay the foundations for the thematic focuses of the regional symposium events planned over the coming years, in both the North and South.

The Al Qasimi Foundation additionally partners with NORRAG to publish an electronic Arabic Version of NORRAG Special Issue – NSI Middle East, which contains a translation of some of the articles in the English version. The Al Qasimi Foundation also handles the contextualization and editing of NSI by naming a local editor to manage the selection of content to be translated as well as add three to four articles about education and training contributed by regional authors.
