Event Highlights: Launch of the Arabic Edition of NORRAG Special Issue 08 “he Education-Training-Work Continuums: Pathways to Socio-Professional Inclusion for Youth and Adults”
The Arabic Edition of NSI 08 was launched online on Wednesday 2nd of October 2024. It was prepared by Rasha Sharaf, Professor of International and Comparative Education at Helwan University, Egypt, and Regional Editor of NSI. It includes two articles written by authors located in Egypt, Jordan and Libya in addition to translations of 12 articles from the original NSI 08.
The event first gave a brief introduction of the general perspectives on the discontinuities that currently exist between education, training and decent work in the world and the Arab region, arguing that existing discontinuities between these three fields create and reinforce exclusions and inequalities for already marginalised groups. The authors argue that treating the three fields as a continuum would improve the inclusion of people who continue to be excluded from the “standard” journey between education, training and work. The NIS 08 Arabic The 14 contributions in this special issue of NORRAG in Arabic illustrate what a continuity perspective can achieve: helping policymakers, practitioners, and academics alike to identify and address barriers to the inclusion of the most vulnerable groups and individuals, and to gradually shape education, training, and labor systems so that transition pathways are open and accessible in all directions. Therefore, strengthening the integration of education, training, and labor systems, and promoting approaches that support continuity, play an important role in the global pursuit of more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable societies.
The event, which offered a comprehensive overview of the Arabic edition of NSI 08 presentations by the contributing authors and an interactive Q&A, was attended by 25 participants from all over the Arab region, including educators, researchers, and academics.
An overview of the nineth issue of NSI09 was presented and researchers and academics were invited to contribute regional articles to the next Arabic issue.
The launch was concluded by Rasha Sharaf, who thanked the participants for the questions shared during the event. She also thanked the authors and editors for their work on this significant issue that is now available in the resource library in both English, Arabic and other languages.

تم إطلاق النسخة العربية من العدد الخاص الثامن لنشرة NORRAG (NSI 08) عبر الإنترنت يوم الأربعاء 2 أكتوبر 2024. تم إعدادها من قبل الدكتورة رشا شرف، أستاذة التربية الدولية والمقارنة بجامعة حلوان، مصر، والمحررة الإقليمية للعدد الخاص. تتضمن النسخة العربية مقالين كتبهما مؤلفون من مصر والأردن وليبيا، بالإضافة إلى ترجمات لـ 12 مقالاً من النسخة الأصلية للعدد الخاص.
بدأ الحدث بتقديم مقدمة موجزة حول وجهات النظر العامة بشأن الانقطاعات الحالية التي توجد بين التعليم والتدريب والعمل اللائق في العالم والمنطقة العربية، مشيرًا إلى أن هذه الانقطاعات القائمة بين هذه المجالات الثلاثة تساهم في تعزيز الاستبعاد وعدم المساواة بين الفئات المهمشة بالفعل. يجادل المؤلفون بأن التعامل مع هذه المجالات كاستمرارية من شأنه أن يحسن إدماج الأفراد الذين ما زالوا مستبعدين من الرحلة “المعيارية” بين التعليم والتدريب والعمل.
توضح المساهمات الـ 14 في هذا العدد الخاص من نشرة NORRAG باللغة العربية ما يمكن أن تحققه وجهة النظر الاستمرارية: فهي تساعد صناع السياسات والممارسين والأكاديميين على حد سواء في تحديد ومعالجة الحواجز التي تحول دون إدماج الفئات والمجموعات الأكثر ضعفًا، كما تساهم في تشكيل أنظمة التعليم والتدريب والعمل تدريجيًا بحيث تكون مسارات الانتقال مفتوحة ومتاحة في جميع الاتجاهات. لذلك، فإن تعزيز تكامل أنظمة التعليم والتدريب والعمل، وتعزيز النهج التي تدعم الاستمرارية، يلعب دورًا مهمًا في السعي العالمي لتحقيق مجتمعات أكثر عدالة وشمولية واستدامة.
شهد الحدث عرضًا شاملاً للنسخة العربية من العدد الخاص الثامن، مع عروض قدمها المؤلفون المشاركون، وتضمن جلسة أسئلة وأجوبة تفاعلية، وحضرها 25 مشاركًا من جميع أنحاء المنطقة العربية، بما في ذلك المربون والباحثون والأكاديميون.
كما تم تقديم نظرة عامة حول العدد التاسع (NSI 09) ودعوة الباحثين والأكاديميين للمساهمة في المقالات الإقليمية في العدد القادم باللغة العربية.
اختتمت الدكتورة رشا شرف الحدث بشكرها للمشاركين على الأسئلة التي تم طرحها خلال الحدث، كما شكرت المؤلفين والمحررين على عملهم في هذا العدد المهم الذي أصبح متاحًا الآن في مكتبة الموارد باللغات الإنجليزية والعربية ولغات أخرى.
