Invitation to the Swiss launch of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2019

The Swiss Launch of the Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report 2019 dedicated to “Migration, displacement and education: Building bridges, not walls” will take place on 21 February 2019 at SDC in Bern. The UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring Report was released on 20 November 2018 in Berlin.

The report continues its assessment of progress towards SDG4, as well as other related education targets in the SDG agenda. It presents evidence on the implications of different types of migration and displacement for education systems, but also the impact that reforming education curricula and approaches to pedagogy and teacher preparation can have on addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by migration. The 2019 GEM Report shows what impact human mobility can have on the right to education and how education can make a difference in the lives of migrants, refugees and the communities receiving them.

The Swiss launch of the GEM Report is organized by the SDC Education Network in collaboration with the SDC Employment and Income Network, the SDC Network on Migration and Development, the Swiss UNESCO Commission, the Swiss Network for Education and international cooperation RECI and the Swiss forum for vocational training and international cooperation FoBBIZ.
