Event Highlights: Launch of the Spanish Edition of NORRAG Special Issue 07: “Education in Times of Climate Change”
The Spanish Edition of NSI 07 was launched online on Tuesday 31 October 2023. It was prepared by prepared by Felicitas Acosta, Researcher and Professor of Comparative and History of Education at National University of General Sarmiento, Argentina, Regional Editor of NSI and NORRAG’s Regional Coordinator for Spanish speaking Latin American countries. It includes two articles written by authors located in Mexico and Brazil in addition to translations of 12 articles from the original NSI 07.
The event first gave a brief introduction of the general perspectives, then discussed 7 main topics including “Expanding learning and agency across boundaries”, “Transforming learning, activism and relating”, “Engaging diverse knowledges in climate change response”, “Young people and the call for climate action”, “Children’s voices in climate action”, “Transforming higher education for sustainable futures” and “Inclusive, responsive educational transformations in service of sustainable futures”, reflecting different perspectives and methodological approaches undertaken by researchers from around the world on examining the role of the education in times of climate change. The event, which offered a comprehensive overview of the Spanish edition of NSI 07 presentations by the contributing authors and an interactive Q&A, was attended by participants all over the latin american region, including academic colleagues and civil society actors.
During the event, the NORRAG social network was also presented and participants were invited to join it and get in touch with education experts and researchers from different countries.

La edición en español de NSI 07 fue lanzada en línea el martes 31 de octubre de 2023. Fue preparada por Felicitas Acosta, Investigadora y Profesora de Educación Comparada e Historia de la Educación en la Universidad Nacional de General Sarmiento, Argentina, Editora Regional de NSI y Coordinadora Regional de NORRAG para los países latinoamericanos de habla hispana. Incluye dos artículos escritos por autores ubicados en México y Brasil además de traducciones de 12 artículos del original NSI 07.
el evento comenzó con una breve introducción de las perspectivas generales, luego discutió 7 temas principales incluyendo “Expandiendo el aprendizaje y la agencia a través de las fronteras”, “Transformando el aprendizaje, el activismo y la relación”, “Involucrando diversos saberes en la respuesta al cambio climático”, “Los jóvenes y el llamado a la acción climática”, “Las voces de los niños en la acción climática”, “Transformar la educación superior para un futuro sostenible” y “Transformaciones educativas inclusivas y receptivas al servicio de un futuro sostenible”, que reflejan las diferentes perspectivas y enfoques metodológicos adoptados por investigadores de todo el mundo para examinar el papel de la educación en tiempos de cambio climático. El acto, que ofreció una visión general de la edición española de NSI 07, presentaciones de los autores participantes y una sesión interactiva de preguntas y respuestas, contó con la asistencia de participantes de toda la región latinoamericana, incluidos colegas académicos y actores de la sociedad civil.
Durante el evento también se presentó la red social NORRAG y se invitó a los participantes a unirse a ella y ponerse en contacto con expertos e investigadores en educación de distintos países.
