NORRAG welcomes Moira Faul as NORRAG Executive Director and Lisa Sabot-Schmid as Education Officer
The NORRAG team welcomed Moira Faul as the new NORRAG Executive Director today. As the NORRAG team is currently working from home due to the COVID-19 lockdown, the welcome party took place over Zoom. In addition, we welcomed Lisa Sabot-Schmid as NORRAG’s SDC Backstopping team Education Officer.
The whole team welcomed Moira and Lisa to their new positions and shared images of places where they wish to go once the lockdown is over (see the featured image of this post). This was followed by a roundtable, where everyone was free to update the team on their latest projects and activities.
Joining NORRAG in April as Executive Director, Moira comes to us from her previous post as Deputy Director of the Public-Private Partnership Center at the University of Geneva, and she was also Visiting Professor at the Graduate Institute (IHEID) in 2019. Originally from Zimbabwe, Moira brings substantial expertise in education and international cooperation, as well as in organizational development and management in the private and voluntary sectors in China, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.
She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and a teaching qualification from the University of Oxford. Previously, she held a Visiting Research Fellowship at the UN Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) and successfully led a UK Research Councils-funded programme on knowledge exchange between research and policy at the University of Cambridge. Before embarking on her PhD, Moira was a senior manager in private sector adult education in Spain and China, then Head of Education and Youth Policy (UK) at Oxfam GB.
Lisa has over 12 years of experience in project management, coordination and communication, in the international cooperation and education in emergencies sectors. She previously worked for Save the Children in the Global Education Cluster as Program and Communication Officer. She has two master’s degrees from the Graduate Institute. She joins the Backstopping team alongside Barbara Zeus (team leader of the backstopping mandate) and Marina Dreux-Frotté (project coordinator).
